We acknowledge that the Church has been slow in acting on the responsibility to help prevent the spread of HIV and care for those who are already infected or directly affected by this disease. Discussion of sexuality is still considered a taboo in many churches. As the most common mode of HIV transmission is through sexual intercourse, the churches remain stuck on issues of stigma and judging others. In this given context, CANA aims to educate, sensitize and motivate church leaders, pastors, priests & lay leaders through meetings, trainings, conferences and exposure visits for bringing about active responses to the pandemic of HIV & AIDS.

CANA organizes “exposure visit” to HIV field ministries to help church leaders and pastors to see and interact with people infected and affected by HIV. With the visiting experiences, these pastors are sensitized, motivated and encouraged to take up the HIV cause in their own churches and ministries.

CANA also trains pastors and church leaders to equip them for sermons and counseling on HIV, Biblical passages about caring for the sick, etc. and to raise awareness of HIV & AIDS, emphasize prevention and care to their Church members and community, and to inspire and motivate them to involve in intervention programs.
